And Luke Temple is Here We Go Magic.
I don’t mean to completely diminish the performance talents of Kristina Lieberson, Jennifer Turner, Peter Hale and Michael Bloch, but the Here We Go Magic album was made by Temple and Temple alone. But this ain’t your father’s Luke Temple. Temple’s previous solo attempt, “Snowbeast,” is no indication of what to expect from this album.
Temple, a former painter (and designer of the album sleeve), moved from muraling the walls of New York’s upper crust, into music with a colorful approach. He says he sees the music in colors, and this album is shades of black. I would have thought it a bit brighter than that, but perhaps that gives you more of an insight than it gave me.
Personally, I just feel like the album is the love-child of Paul Simon and Natasha Khan.
Opening for Grizzly Bear tonight @ The Wiltern. 9 pm sharp people. No fashionable lateness for you!
“Fangela” is the most recognizable track on the album. Which is why you won’t find it here.
Here We Go Magic – “Ahab”
Here We Go Magic – “Tunnelvision”
