HOVA

Fuck variety. I’ve been kicking it to anything Ratatat touches involving Jay-Z: 29 hours a day, 8 days a month.*
While my headphones usually pump out a host of different shiz, you have to choose your soundtrack based on your surroundings. If I’m getting kidnapped by pirates – well I’ll respectfully request Beirut. If I’m slamming your Mom,** I want songs that are mad long and have a hypnotic beat like some of that Bossasaurus shiz.

The past couple of weeks I’ve spent most of my long evenings cruising the D of C through rough neighborhoods looking for trees and trouble. I have a knack for finding both at the same time. It’s been a pretty narrow playlist I’ve been rocking around while pumping the iPod for all it’s worth. Mostly just things by Jay-Z and the B.I.G. remixed by Ratatat. I can’t get this stuff out of my head. Mostly because it reminds me of my hard-knocks background. Not everyone can survive a New England boarding school at the tender age of 16. Hova speaks to my ass. No one else tells a better story on how hard it is to be male, rich, and white, am I right? Every time I start to feel like I don’t like material possessions – H.O.V.A. reminds me how much I like big-bodied Benzes and getting fucked up on life.

I’m part two of the proof that a life of crime can pay. I totally stole these songs off the interweb. If you haven’t gotten remixes Vol I & II from Ratatat – go figure out bing (not) or google or something and hook yourself up. Ratatat just dropped a new album LP3.Definitely go get that.

Jay-Z & Notorious B.I.G. – “Allure (Ratatat)”
Jay-Z – “Sunshine (Ratatat)”

* Don’t do drugs kids. Fucks up your sense of time.
** You know I am. Noice!
