Le Loup

Several years ago at a party, I met Jim, a man with whom I shared a rare imperfection. Each of us were chosen by [deity of choice] to carry the social stigma of a sunken xiphoid process. For those of you who are reading this blog for its contributions to the general public’s knowledge of medicine, the xiphoid process is the bottom section of the sternum that protrudes vertically beneath the rib connectors. It’s the part that is generally broken when one performs CPR on another human being.

For those of you who are now furious with me for wasting 14 seconds of your life and don’t give a shit about knowledge that will probably be relevant later on in your life when you least expect it, I’ll get to the point. Jim mentioned that he and some buddies had recently started a band in Washington D.C. called Le Loup. Like most of the times when someone tells me they have a band, I instantly glazed over and started flashing back to fond memories of “Full House” and “Clarissa Explains It All.” It wasn’t until later when someone asked me, “Hey, have you heard of this awesome band ‘Le Loup’? They’re from our area and they don’t suck.” that I realized that this Jim guy was Serious Business.

The bottom line is that Le Loup really doesn’t suck. In fact, they have an almost ethereal, organic sound that floats a layer above the clouds. It wraps around you on a rainy spring day and shudders with the windows when the lightning strikes. Strings, keyboards, and layered vocals come together in amazing harmony. It’s no wonder people are starting to take notice.
