If you want to see four turntables and an MPC get worked over like your madre on a typical tuesday morning at my house – you should check out an RJD2 show. Like the one tonight. At the 9:30 club. Here is my question though: How the fuck is he not getting sued all of the time? You know for the whole whiplash thing. Every time I hear someone put RJD2 on – I see at least 62% of the rooms occupants snap their heads so violently in the direction of the music that sometimes their heads just pop right off and roll away. Don’t believe me? See how nervous you are to put RJD2 on at your next house party. Manslaughter charges ain’t cool yo. For serious.
To be fair – RJD2s instrumental work is just fucking mind blowing. And we all know how I feel about getting blown in the dome.* Let me tell you this though: RJD2 providing beats for one of your favorite rappers – is not the worst thing to happen to you. I wouldn’t kid you about this. So laying Vast Aire (half of Cannibal Ox) over RJD2 is kind of like if you had sensory overload and then had your head bitten off by a female praying mantis.**
Whenever I need to get fired up (you know like for something illegal) – I spin these songs and my only recourse for the rest of the night is to commit to doing tons of damage. Damage is awesome.
RJD2 ft. Vast Aire – “Tippin Dominoes”
RJD2 ft. Cannibal Ox – “The F Word”
RJD2 – “Exotic Talk”
Get RJD2 here. Get Vast Aire here.
* Like so much.
** Seriously how fucking kickass would that be on a scale from 1-8?
