beach front property

Like a grey day in Montauk, on the cusp of fall, so late in the year you really shouldn’t have gone cause it’s too windy and cold. To the shoreside get-away spot your family owns but that you haven’t been to in a while. But your parents are out of town and you’re a teenager now, so you take the train up with a few friends. Including the girl you’ve been with all summer… The girl you sort of really don’t even know that much about, and yet hangs in your every thought. The girl you’re worried you’re about to lose as the semester starts back up and people go their separate ways like they do. So you plan one more trip. One last vacation from the banal day-to-day you’re about to commit to. It looms and presses in, like the crashing surf on the beach where you sit next to this girl. And you want the moment never to end.

That’s what this brand new song is to me.*

I can’t say anything else at the moment… It leaves me otherwise speechless.

Beach House – “Norway”

*and I’ve never even been to Montauk… (Beach House third album “Teen Dream” is coming for all of us in the not-soon-enough 2010).
