Since I outted myself about Paramore a long time ago, admitting the title proclamation isn’t exactly a confession, but none-the-less, the reminder might make your nose crinkle.
Yes, I actually think they have moments of musical brilliance while basking in the beams of the mainstream light, allowing the music to mature figuratively as the band itself has done literally.
The latest album, “Brand New Eyes,” released earlier this week showcases the softer sides of Miss Hayley Williams and her merry band of boys… erm, eh-hem, I mean “men”. Acoustic tracks heretofore have mostly been unplugged versions of their hits or unreleased covers (the most recent “Use Somebody” being an undeniable stand out).
But with this record, we get shades of both the traditional sounds (“Brick by Boring Brick,” “Turn It Off” and radio single “Ignorance”) and the newer-minted lesser-heard aural aspects (“Misguided Ghosts,” the Coldplay-esque “The Only Exception,” and the customary bonus-track self-covers like “Turn It Off”) and everything in between (look to “All I Wanted” as a nice blend).
Oh, wait, I promised other confessions too, huh?
Let’s see, I once faked hysterical blindness, I’ve read “Twilight” (not for connected reasons), and I used to be a Jehova’s Witness. That should hold you over for awhile.

P.S. The Palladium show was rescheduled from last night, so there’s still a chance to get tickets if you like to see good live music with lots of underage screaming girls.
